The training challenge
Machine-operation training must translate procedures, controls and decisions into confident action. When learners depend only on demonstrations or limited machine time, repeating every step at their own pace can be difficult.
The CUPS approach
We created a 3D software simulator representing the cone-track grinding machine and its operating workflow. Learners could explore machine setup, the control panel, process parameters, normal operation, reset actions and selected troubleshooting scenarios in a controlled digital environment.
The learning experience supported English, Hindi and Gujarati, combining guided practice with quizzes and a gamified skill test.
What the solution enabled
- Practice away from live production equipment
- A repeatable operating sequence for each learner
- Familiarity with controls, parameters and procedure
- Selected troubleshooting and reset practice
- Multilingual instruction and knowledge checks
NBC Bearings' completion letter states that the simulator was delivered to a high standard and was expected to greatly reduce the time required to train manpower on the machine.
Why the format mattered
VR is not automatically the right answer for every problem. For this requirement, desktop software simulation was appropriate because the learning goal centred on using the machine, understanding its controls and following its operating flow.
